  • Usage: Deoxidizer, Inoculant

Ferro silicon is produced from quartz, coke as raw materials by electric furnace. Si and oxygen is easily to be compound into SiO2, and Fe can be used directly into liquid steel, Ferrosilicon is used as a source of silicon to reduce metals from their oxides and to deoxidize steel and other ferro alloys. Moreover, ferro silicon also can be used as an alloy element joining agent in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel.

The Main Applications of Ferro Silicon
Deoxidizer and alloy agent in steel making industry.
To obtain qualified chemical composition and guarantee the quality of steel, deoxidizing must be conducted in the final stages of steel making. The chemical affinity is very large between silicon and oxygen, so ferro silicon is strong deoxidizer in steel making for sedimentation and diffusion deoxidation. This can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity. As alloy agent, it can improve the inclusion shape and reduce gas elements content in liquid steel. It is an effective new technology in improving steel quality, reducing cost and saving raw material.
Inoculant and nodulizer in casting iron industry.
Ferro silicon is an important inoculant and nodulizer in ductile iron production. Because adding a certain amount of silicon in casting iron, can prevent steel form carbide and promote precipitation and nodulizing of graphite.
Reductant in ferroalloy production
Ferro silicon is a common reductant used in low-carbon ferroalloy production in ferroalloy.

Attention: Ferrosilicon contains a little phosphorus compounds like calcium phosphide, during transportation or warehouse storage, if damp, it can emit phosphine which make people poisoning.
