usage of ferro phosphorus

Ferro phosphorus acts as an additive to phosphorus in steelmaking and casting. Phosphorus is a harmful impurity for most steel grades, but it can improve the corrosion resistance of certain steel grades. When a steel plate containing phosphorus is used, adhesion between the steel sheets can be prevented. When producing rolls, adding 0.4%-0.5% phosphorus can improve the fluidity and avoid cracks on the surface. Phosphorus also improves and improves the cutting properties of steel. Those are usage of ferro phosphorus in steelmaking.

The usage of ferro phosphorus in casting to improve the fluidity of cast iron and thus improve the quality of castings. When producing wear-resistant cast iron with high phosphorus content, phosphorus forms a uniform binary phosphorus eutectic structure in the casting and is distributed in a network. Due to the high hardness of the phosphorus eutectic, the truck brake shoe contains 0.7%-1% phosphorus, which can improve its wear resistance. At present, most of the usage of ferro phosphorus is in the foundry industry.
There are many phosphorus minerals in nature, and the ores suitable for industrial production mainly include apatite and phosphorite. Apatite is a widely distributed mineral, and the main Hanlin mineral is fluoroapatite. Globally, phosphate resources are mainly distributed in Africa, North America, South America, Asia and the Middle East. More than 80% of the phosphate resources are concentrated in Morocco and Western Sahara, South Africa, the United States, China, Jordan and Russia. At present, China's annual phosphate rock production is over 60 million tons, far higher than that of the United States, Morocco and Western Sahara.
There are two methods for producing ferro phosphorus: one is mainly for the production of ferro phosphorus, and phosphorus is a by-product; the other is mainly for the production of yellow phosphorus, and ferro phosphorus is a by-product. China generally produces ferro phosphorus in the first method. Since the consumption of ferro phosphorus is not large, small and medium-sized electric furnaces are generally used when the second method is used to produce ferro phosphorus.
