high carbon silicon slag

High carbon silicon slag is a by-product of the production of metallic silicon. Metal silicon is an important industrial raw material for formulating alloys, preparing polycrystalline silicon, and producing organic silicon. It is also known as the name of silicon carbon alloy or silicon recarb. The carbon content of the silicon content in different models is also different. The carbon in the metal silicon 553 is generally less than 0.1%, and the carbon content in the metal silicon 2202 could be less than 0.03%. However, no matter in which model, the carbon content will not exceed 0.5%. The carbon content in high carbon silicon slag is generally higher than 3%.

In the production of metal silicon, the main raw materials are silica and charcoal. Among them, charcoal is the main source of carbon in high carbon silicon slag. After the reduction reaction, the silicon in the silica is displaced, and the purity can reach 50% or more. Silicon carbon alloy is mainly divided into two kinds, one is metal silicon scrap, the high carbon silicon slag generally has a carbon content of not more than 7%, and the silicon content is mostly 40%-60%. The other is the waste formed in the middle of the metal silicon production process. Because most of the silica has been converted to metallic silicon, and the carbon has not been completely removed, the silicon and carbon content are higher. The carbon content of this high carbon silicon slag is generally 15% or more. Since both silicon and carbon are active elements and easily react with oxygen, high carbon silicon slag can be used in converter steelmaking as a deoxidizer. High carbon silicon slag has a silicon content of about 60%, a carbon content of 3%-15%, and sometimes more than 18%. High carbon silicon slag can replace ferrosilicon, silicon carbide, carbon reductant, reduce the amount of deoxidizer, and is used in converter smelting deoxidation alloying process with stable effect. The chemical composition, mechanical properties and internal control quality of steel are superior to traditional processes. It has a high carbon content, reacts with oxygen and generates heat, and has a heating effect on deoxidation of molten steel. It is easy to increase and control the carbon content in the molten steel.

High carbon silicon slag raw material is blocky, similar to most ferroalloy products, after crushing process generally form lumps with a particle size of 10-100mm, which is convenient for users. It can also be processed into granules, briquette and other particle sizes.
