alti5b master alloy

Master Alloy is a kind of metal matrix, one or several elements are added to it to solve the problems of easy burning, high melting point, difficult to melt, high density and easy segregation, or special alloys used to improve the properties of the alloy, It is an additive functional material.

After the grain-refining master alloy is added to the melt, a large number of heterogeneous nucleation cores are released, which can be used as foreign crystal nuclei during the solidification of the melt, affecting the nucleation process of the melt crystallization, thereby refining the alloy grains. The role of aluminum alloy grain refining master alloy products at home and abroad mainly include: Al-Ti, Al-Ti-B, Al-Ti-B-RE, Al-Ti-C, Al-Ti-B-C, etc. Al-Ti and Al-Ti-B master alloys have high cost performance in grain refinement of aluminum alloys, and are widely used grain refiners in industry. Al-Ti-B master alloy has better refining effect than Al-Ti master alloy due to the dual-phase nucleation of TiAl3 and TiB2. However, the TiB2 particles in the Al-Ti-B master alloy have a relatively obvious aggregation phenomenon. At the same time, when the aluminum alloy contains Zr, Cr, V, Mn and other alloying elements, it will capture the B in the TiB2 particles, forming the corresponding Boride, which causes the "poisoning" phenomenon of TiB2 particles, so that the refiner weakens or loses its effect. Al-Ti-B-RE, Al-Ti-C, Al-Ti-B-C are new grain refiners, which overcome (or partially overcome) the above-mentioned shortcomings of Al-Ti-B master alloys. The Al-Ti-B-RE master alloy is based on the Al-Ti-B master alloy by adding miscellaneous rare earths. Rare earth is a surface active element, which can increase the wetting angle between the aluminum melt and AlTiRE, TiAl, TiB2 particles, improve the spreadability, and effectively avoid particle aggregation or precipitation. However, the serious segregation phenomenon of TiB2 and other particles can only be alleviated to a certain extent, so the whole preparation process still needs strong stirring. The Al-Ti-C grain refiner overcomes the shortcomings of Al-Ti-B to a certain extent, and its heterogeneous nucleation core TiC has a smaller aggregation tendency than TiB2, and has a negative effect on Zr, Cr, V, Mn, etc. The element is immune to "poisoning", but the economical addition method of element C, the stability of the refining effect and the industrial scale production still need further research.

AlTi5B Master Alloy

Aluminum Titanium Boron Master Alloy models includes AlTi5B1, AlTi3B1, AlTi5B0.2 used for the grain-refining of pure aluminum or aluminum alloys. It helps to improve the quality of Al-Alloy ingot as well as aluminum extrusion products. With advanced production facilities we are not able to produce various shape and size of the AlTi5B Master Alloys like coiled rods, waffle, stick, billet(tablet), ingot.
