The production method of the silicon manganese alloy is: refining and producing the manganese ore (including the manganese-rich slag) and the manganese oxide and silicon dioxide in the silica by using carbon in the submerged arc furnace.
Manganese ore is mainly concentrated in South Africa, Mozambique, Australia, Russia, Myanmar, Gabon and other countries. China's manganese ore production includes Liaoning, Hunan, Sichuan, Guangxi and other provinces, but because of its low purity, it needs to import a large number of high-grade manganese ore from abroad.
Silicon manganese alloy is suitable for steelmaking and casting as alloying agent, composite deoxidizer and desulfurizer. Manganese is added as an alloying element to the molten steel to alloy the steel, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the steel and increasing the strength, hardness, ductility, toughness and wear resistance of the steel. Therefore, manganese is an indispensable element in steel production, almost all Steel contains a certain amount of manganese.
