SiC Producing Capacity In China

China's silicon carbide smelting production process, technical equipment and energy consumption per ton have reached world-leading levels. The quality level of black and green silicon carbide blocks is also world-class. The gap between China's silicon carbide and the world's advanced level is mainly concentrated in four aspects:

First, large-scale machinery and equipment are rarely used in the production process, many processes are completed by manpower, and the per capita output of silicon carbide is low;

Second, in the deep processing of silicon carbide products, the quality management of granular sand and fine powder products is not fine enough, and the product quality is not stable enough;

Third, there is a certain gap between the performance indicators of some cutting-edge products and similar products in developed countries;

Fourth, carbon monoxide is directly emitted during the smelting process. Major foreign companies have basically realized closed smelting, while Chinese silicon carbide smelting is almost all open smelting, and carbon monoxide is directly discharged. In 2012, Chinese companies developed closed smelting technology to realize the full recovery of carbon monoxide, but there is still a long way to go before the whole industry can be popularized.

There are more than 200 silicon carbide smelting enterprises in China with an annual production capacity of more than 2.2 million tons (of which: more than 1.2 million tons of green silicon carbide blocks and about 1 million tons of black silicon carbide blocks). The power of smelting transformers is mostly 6300 ~ 12500kVA, and the maximum smelting transformer is 32000kVA. There are more than 300 processing sand and fine powder production enterprises with an annual production capacity of more than 2 million tons. In 2012, China's silicon carbide capacity utilization rate was less than 45%. About one-third of the smelting enterprises have a production line for processing fine sand powder. Silicon carbide processing sand powder production enterprises are mainly distributed in Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Jilin, Heilongjiang and other provinces.
