Green Silicon Carbide Application

Green silicon carbide: It contains more than 97% SiC and has good self-sharpness. Most of it is used for processing hard alloys, titanium alloys, and optical glass. It is also used for honing cylinder liners and precision grinding high-speed steel tools.

Production process of silicon carbide fine powder

Because of the small amount of silicon carbide in nature, the production of silicon carbide is mainly artificial. The main raw materials of black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide are slightly different. The raw materials of black silicon carbide are: quartz sand, petroleum coke and high-quality silica. The raw materials of green silicon carbide are petroleum coke and high-quality silica, and salt is used as an additive. Synthesized in an electric furnace with a temperature of 2000 ~ 2500 ℃, the specific equation is: SiO2 + 3C → SiC + 2CO -46.8KJ (11.20kcal). The silicon carbide block obtained is then crushed, washed with acid and alkali, magnetically separated and sieved, or water-separated to produce silicon carbide powder of various particle sizes.

Status of domestic production technology

The domestic silicon carbide smelting production process, technical equipment and energy consumption per ton have reached world-leading levels. The quality level of black and green silicon carbide blocks is also world-class. However, compared with the international, the production of domestic silicon carbide still has the following problems:

(1) The production equipment is not advanced, many processes are completed by manpower, and the per capita output is low;

(2) The dispersion process of silicon carbide is not advanced, the quality management of fine powder is not fine, and the stability is not enough;

(3) There is a certain gap between the performance indicators of some cutting-edge products and similar products in developed countries;

(4) The CO produced in the domestic smelting process is directly emitted, while in foreign countries, closed smelting is used and all are recovered.
