1. Chemical Composition

(1)The manganese content should be high. Generally speaking, when smelting manganese alloys, the higher the manganese content of the manganese ore used, the better its various technical indicators. Manganese ore is used to smelt medium and low carbon ferromanganese, while the manganese ore used for high carbon ferromanganese smelted by blast furnace and electric furnace should not contain less than 30% manganese.

(2)The content of P and Fe should be low. When smelting manganese alloy, the rate of manganese into the alloy increases with the increase of the manganese content in the manganese ore, but the rate of phosphorus and iron into the alloy is almost fixed, 75% and 95% respectively. For manganese alloys with specified content and phosphorus content not exceeding the specified allowable content, it is necessary to limit the content of P and Fe in manganese ore by manganese-phosphorus ratio and manganese-iron ratio.

(3)Al2O3 should be lower. Al2O3 in manganese ore is an unhelpful component for the smelting of ferromanganese.

(4)Pn and Zn should be low. Some manganese ores have high content of Pn and Zn, these elements will pollute the alloy and deteriorate the operating environment due to their easy reduction and volatilization. After the lead is reduced, due to its high density, it is concentrated at the bottom of the furnace and penetrates into the brick joints, which reduces the service life of the furnace lining.

2.Physical properties

The physical properties such as particle size, compressive strength and water content also have a great influence on smelting. The smelting of ferromanganese requires manganese ore to be in the form of lumps, and the fine ore will reduce the gas permeability of the charge, which is not conducive to chemical reaction and heat exchange. -75mm; sinter and pellets should have sufficient compressive strength, generally greater than 4.9MPa; when the water content of manganese ore fluctuates greatly, it will not only make it difficult for smelting to proceed normally, but also seriously deteriorate various technical and economic indicators, generally The moisture content in the furnace is required to be less than 8%.

Currently, the high carbon ferro manganese market is weak and stable, but the transaction is not ideal, so that the transaction price of 65 high carbon FeMn fell to 6750-6900RMB/T. Today, the price of 75 high carbon ferro manganese remains at 7800RMB/T. Recently, the bidding situation of steel mills is general and the pricing is unclear, traders are not very motivated to purchase. However, under the support of cost, the spot price is table, 2.0% middle carbon FeMn is quoted 9400RMB/T, and 0.7% LC FeMn is quoted around 11000RMB/T, the transaction is not ideal.
