Silicon recarb is a new type of alloy which contains silicon and carbon. Recarb is shot for recarburizer. Silicon and carbon can all react with oxygen. So silicon recarb can replace deoxidizing alloy such as Ferrosilicon, Silicon Carbide as well as reduce the dosage of deoxidizers. With less dosage, also lower the cost of steelmaking. Silicon recarb can make the steel better to chemical component, better mechanical property than traditional deoxidizers. Its effect is very stable and obviously the low price made its excellent cost performance.

There are 2 type of silicon recarb, one is with Carbon content above 15%. The other type with carbon around 8%. Those two are conventional models but silicon recarb is also available of customized specifications. The regular size is 10-50mm, sometime with 10-100mm. Lumps or briquette are all provided. Lumps were crushed from alloyed natural blocks, then selected into required standard size. Silicon recarb briquette are made from Si-C powder by briquette machines, the briquette machine provide high pressure to make powder into briquette form.
And binder will be added into raw materials to help it get better hardness. After that, drying process is the last step. Usually manufacturer can dry it under the sun by air, or into a oven which with high temperature from natural gas heat.

The applications of silicon recarb: metallurgical deoxidizer for steelmaking. With Silicon and carbon it can deoxidize the liquid iron. And the reaction of Si, C with oxygen can provide large quantity of heat, which also helps to speed-up other allying process. Carbon of silicon recarb helps to raise C percentage, save cost for increase carbon. And, silicon recarb is dust free, there will be less slag and less air pollution.
