Cored Wire Applications

The cored wire is mainly used for desulfurization, deoxidation, alloying, microalloying of molten steel, modification of inclusions in steel and calcium treatment of continuous cast steel.
Due to the different ways of the cored wire in the rolling process, the cored wire coil is divided into two types: inner tap and outer tap. The cored wire of the internal tap can be directly fed into the steel ladle through a wire feeder and a catheter device.

cored wire applications

In order to control the adding amount and speed of cored wire, the feeder is equipped with a counter that displays the length of the feeder and a controller that displays the speed change. It can automatically stop feeding the line when it is added to the preset length. Wire feeder also includes single line, double line and four line types. The double wire feeder can feed two cored wires at the same time, or a single wire, alternately. The four-wire feeder can feed four cored wires into the ladle at the same time. The externally tapped coils need to be placed on a special pay-off stand for feeding.

Use effect of cored wire: Traditionally, the cored wires for calcium treatment of molten steel are mainly CaSi Cored Wire, ferrous calcium cored wires, and Calcium Aluminum cored wire. The advantage of Calcium silicon cored wire is that the absorption rate of calcium is stable and calcium is not easily oxidized by air. Silicon content is not suitable for low-silicon steel; the core powder of Ferro Calcium cored wire is made of pure metal calcium particles and iron powder in a certain proportion, with low silicon content, but a lot of smoke during use, and calcium The absorption rate is unstable, and it is easy to be oxidized by moisture to cause a short shelf life. The powder inside CaAl cored wire can be made of CaAl Alloy crushed, or it can be made of pure calcium particles and aluminum powder. It is characterized by high and stable calcium absorption, and the molten steel will not significantly increase the silicon content after use.

The use of cored wire can change the composition and morphology of inclusions in steel, the spheroidizing deformation and the total amount of inclusions in the molten steel are reduced, which can significantly improve the transverse impact toughness, plasticity and hot workability of steel. As a result, the mechanical properties of the steel are generally improved and improved.
