Advantage and disadvantage for different spheroidization methods

Different spheroidization methods can be selected for the production of ductile iron, and the advantages and disadvantages of different spheroidization methods are different. Anyang Huatuo Metallurgy Co., Ltd engaged in the spheroidizing agent for several years, This article briefly introduces the advantages and disadvantages of different spheroidization methods for reference by ductile iron production enterprises, as follows:

advantage-and-disadvantage-for-different-spheroidization-methods

1.The advantage of the pressure-adding magnesium method is that pure magnesium is used for spheroidizing treatment, the absorption rate of magnesium is high, up to 70% to 80%, and there is no smoke and dust during the treatment process, and the working environment is good. The disadvantage is that the processing equipment requirements and costs are high; the operation is complicated and strict; the processing time is long, and the molten iron is cooled more; the pressure during the spheroidizing process is high, and industrial accidents are prone to occur.

2.The advantages of the intrusion method are that the treatment method and equipment are simple, easy to operate, have greater flexibility in production, and the required technical content is also low, but the disadvantage is that the magnesium light and smoke pollution are more serious in the spheroidization process. ; Magnesium absorption rate is low.

3.The advantages of the spheroidizing treatment of the cored wire feeding method are: good desulfurization and deoxidation effect, less cooling, and relaxed requirements for the original molten iron; the absorption rate of magnesium is high and relatively stable, and the fluctuation range of the residual magnesium content is small; the spheroidization treatment There is less smoke and magnesium in the process; precise and automatic control of the amount of alloy added can be achieved.

4.The cover method not only retains the advantages of simple equipment and easy operation, but also overcomes the shortcomings of the intrusion method, such as serious magnesium oxidation burning loss, low absorption rate, large consumption of nodularizing agent, and poor working environment. For many years, the foundry workers have been using the advantages of the capping method to produce ductile iron, and at the same time, they are constantly trying to overcome the shortcomings of the spheroidization method in use: the capping is difficult to lift and the operation is difficult; When using a cupola for continuous tapping, it is difficult to quantify the weight of the molten iron accurately.

5.High in-mold magnesium absorption rate, up to 70% to 80%, no magnesium light, no smoke, no spheroidization recession, suitable for mechanized modeling assembly line production. The disadvantage is that there are strict requirements on molten iron temperature, sulfur content, nodularizing agent composition, nodularizing agent size, reaction chamber size and gating system design, and subtle changes in these factors may cause nodularizing effects. In addition, this method is also prone to slag inclusions.

The ductile iron casting manufacturers can comprehensively evaluate each spheroidization treatment method according to their own production conditions, make use of their strengths and avoid weaknesses, and choose their own spheroidization treatment methods to ensure the quality of ductile iron castings.
